I had an appointment with the Maternal Fetal Medicine office today. I met with a geneticist first. It took about 10 minutes and wasn't very informative. Then I met with a nutritionist. Everything they told me was straight from a book that I had already read (When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads). Based on the book, I should have gained 14-18 pounds by this point. I'm DOWN 7.5 pounds. :(
Then we had the ultrasound. It was in big room with a big screen t.v. in the corner where you could see everything from the ultrasound. My mom and friend, Alicia, went with me. The babies were moving around so much that she had a hard time measuring and getting good pictures because they kept moving. She just kept talking about how active and busy they were. After the tech did all her measurements, the doctor came in and took another look at the brain, amniotic fluid, placenta, cord, brain, kidneys, heart. She said that everything looked good. She also made several comments about how active they were. She asked if I was feeling any of it, but I haven't felt anything yet. I also learned that I have an anterior placenta which means that the placenta is between the baby and my belly. So I guess when they kick they kick the placenta so that explains why I don't feel anything yet (until they get a little stronger). Baby A was estimated to be 10 ounces and Baby B was estimated to be 11 ounces.
So now for what you are all excited to know...
Baby A was a girl.
Baby B was a boy.
I have a couple of bedding options that I picked out tonight. I want to post them to get your opinions but don't know how to do it on my ipad (if it's even possible). I will try to do it soon. My mom is staying here for a couple of days so I'm trying not to spend too much time on my computer!

Holy shit, that's amazing!! One of each! I think that's just perfect so they won't be compared to each other as much as same sex twins. I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Before i read this blog, i had a dream about you last night and it was a boy and girl. So exciting!!! Are they concerned about your weight loss? I know it was rough going that first trimester with being sick and all, so i'm sure you'll make up for it in the coming weeks. Sounds like babies are growing great!!
